Alexander Gothard

Kane Princeton
Mr. Alexander Gothard was born and raised just outside of Chicago, Illinois.  He attended Northern Illinois University where he led several student organizations and received various honors before graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.  He moved to Georgia and settled in the city of East Point.  There, his passion for the community was amplified and he began seeing where he could make an impact and a meaningful difference. He became the secretary for the community advocacy group Concerned Citizens of East Point, undertook neighborhood beautification efforts as the Vice-President of the Men of Intelligence Association, and tutored children and young adults in math and reading at Liberty International Church on Saturday mornings.  Subsequently, his passion for East Point led him to run for, and win, a seat on City Council to serve the collective voice of residents who reside in the Ward A district.

While on the City Council, Mr. Gothard continued to push for a more responsive, efficient, and accountable city government.  He introduced many residents to community gardening and other money conserving practices through his Sustainability Summit.  He also sought to combat the severe litter problem the city faces by partnering with local businesses and fundraising for trash receptacles to be placed at every MARTA bus stop throughout the city.  In addition, the unmaintained, dangerous, and dilapidated apartment complexes of Delowe Place and Hillcrest were torn down under Mr. Gothard’s leadership.  “Ban the Box '' was likewise a critical program initiated in East Point by Councilman Gothard.  This program has brought equity into the city’s hiring practices regarding formerly incarcerated persons.  He chose to step down from his post after eight years of service to pursue, and help with, other community needs.

Mr. Gothard went on to receive an M.B.A. in finance from Georgia Tech, serve as the Deputy Chief of Staff for a county commissioner, and continue his volunteer efforts.  In his spare time, Mr. Gothard enjoys mountain biking through the Atlanta trails, traveling and day trading futures contracts, among other things.  He continues to spend much of his time volunteering with the Men of Intelligence Association and seeking economic opportunity and intellectual justice for his community.

The "Accountant and the Counselor" is Mr. Gothard's voice over debut.
